A Look Ahead at 2014

Sometimes I get asked what movies I'm looking forward to, and often I don't have an answer because I try to avoid knowing much about what I'm going to be seeing.  I always preach to steer clear of trailers of movies you already know you want to see.  That kind of discipline and restraint pays off in the end.  Of course, I can't help but have an expectations for any sequels, prequels, remakes, and reboots on the slate.  And I often know the names and genres of upcoming films from some of my favorite directors, writers, and actors, but I avoid knowing the plot.  (So please don't tell me!)  Of course, many of the best films of any year come out of film festivals and may not even be on IMDB's radar yet.  But here are the films I am most and least looking forward to in 2014 based on purposely limited research.

Films I am Least Looking Forward to in 2014
(This list generally includes animation and family fare, 'guy films' with lots of tough guys in tight deep v-neck shirts fighting, shooting, punching, and kicking, ultra-stupid comedies (i.e. Adam Sandler's bread and butter) and, of course, the vastly overrated auteur Wes Anderson.)

Worst Films of 2013

And then there were those.  You know the ones I'm talking about.  Those movies you couldn't stand.  Those movies you felt like you should (and maybe actually did) walk out of even though you paid good money to see them.  Those movies that actually made you angry for wasting your time, particularly if all the reviews you read had been favorable.  Or hopefully those movies you avoided because you read my blog.  For me, this list contains Japanese anime (which I admittedly am biased against as I don't care for animation, and Japanese anime all looks like 'Speed Racer' to me), gratuitous violence, unbearably stupid 'comedy', low budget straight to VOD crap, and of course Jason Statham.  I apologize if one of your favorites is on here.  Errr .... wait ... no I don't!
