Michael Pena plays Cesar Chavez in this biopic about the civil rights activist and labor organizer who in the 1950's fought for the rights of and created a union for his fellow immigrant farm workers. Along the way he battles the expected bigotry and increasingly violent actions of the rich landowners and local law enforcement. But all it takes is one man willing to risk it all to inspire and incite the masses to rise up against injustice. It sounds corny, but it's educational and a reasonably entertaining watch with decent performances by Pena, America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson, and the always fun John Malkovich.
Who is this movie for: History buffs and biopic fans.
