I'm really glad to see we're getting a lot more variation in the VOD horror genre than we're seeing in theaters. I'm so tired of the handheld camera, documentary style, found footage derivative stuff and the haunted house/exorcism repeats we see over and over. There have been a number of interesting entries this year on VOD, and this one is hard to classify in a genre, as it's just barely horror, but also thriller, mystery, and drama. It begins with a pregnant woman who is mugged, and her unborn child brutally beaten and killed. Her understandable depression that follows sets off an interesting chain of events, of which it's impossible to predict what comes. So as not to oversell it, it's not consistently thrilling or even engaging at all times, but it is interesting and a decent and original film for fans of lower budget yet good quality horror/thriller/mystery/drama.
'Proxy' is now available on Video on Demand.
Who is this movie for? Fans of lower budget yet good quality horror/thriller/mystery/drama.
